Staatsvorm: Slowakije is een parlementaire republiek met een president als staatshoofd en een premier als regeringsleider. Het parlement bestaat uit één kamer, die heet de Nationale Raad. De Slowaakse Nationale Raad heeft 150 leden, die rechtstreeks worden gekozen.
Munteenheid: De munteenheid in Slowakije is de EURO sinds 1 januari 2009.
Taal: De officiële taal is Slowaaks. Daarnaast wordt er ook Hongaars gesproken in gebieden waar veel Hongaren wonen (voornamelijk in het zuiden van Slowakije, langs de grens met Hongarije).

Beste Reistijd: De beste reistijd voor Slowakije is over het algemeent van mei tot en met september. In deze periode zijn de temperaturen meestal aangenaam en kun je veel buitenactiviteiten doen. In de winter (december tot en met maart) is Slowakije vooral interessant voor mensen die van sneeuw en wintersport houden.
