Bezienswaardigheden / tips Moraira 2026:

1) Moraira: Moraira is een charmant kustplaatsje aan de Costa Blanca in de provincie Alicante. Het hoort bij de gemeente Teulada en staat bekend om zijn rustige, verzorgde sfeer. Moraira ligt tussen grotere badplaatsen zoals Calpe en Jávea, maar voelt veel kleinschaliger en exclusiever. Geen massatoerisme maar eerder een ontspannen sfeer. Moraira heeft ook mooie stranden zoals Playa de l' Ampolla en een gezellige jachthaven en boulevard. Ook zijn er goede restaurants, terrassen en leuke kleine winkeltjes. Ideaal als je de Costa Blanca wilt ervaren zonder massatoerisme.

2) Castillo de Moraira: Het fort werd rond 1742 gebouwd om de kust te beschermen tegen aanvallen van piraten, vooral uit Noord-Afrika. Het ligt direct aan zee in het centrum op een strategische plek met goed uitzicht over de Middelandse Zee. De bouwstijl is compact en robuust, met dikke muren en een halfronde vorm om beter bestand te zijn tegen kanonvuur. Het maakte deel uit van een netwerk van wachttorens en forten langs de Valenciaanse kust. Tegenwoordig is het gerestaureerd en een populaire toeristische plek. 

3) El Gigante de Sal: Het kunstwerk El Gigante de Sal staat bij het Castillo de Moraira. Het beeld werd geplaatst als herinnering aan de coronatijd en de impact daavan op de gemeenschap. De "zoutreus"staat symbool voor de zwaarte van die periode, maar ook voor veerkracht: zout verwijst hier naar tranen, verlies en moeilijke tijden, maar ook naar behoud en kracht (zoals zout vroeger dingen conserveerde). Naast het beeld staan de letters Moraira waar je prachtige foto's kunt maken.

4) Playa de l' Ampolla: Het Playa de l' Ampolla is het grootste en bekendste strand van Moraira. Het strand heeft fijn zand en ondiep, rustig water, waardoor het geschikt is vor gezinnen met kinderen. Dankzij de centrale ligging, vlak bij het centrum en Castillo de Moraira, is het gemakkelijk bereikbaar en populair bij zowel locals als toeristen. Ook zijn er voorzieningen zoals strandwachten, douches en horecagelegenheden. 

5) Jachthaven van Moraira: De moderne jachthaven van Moraira , Club Náutico Moraira is een kleine maar sfeervolle haven. Het biedt plaats aan pleziervaartuigen en zeilboten en vormt het centrum van het maritieme leven in Moraira. Daarnaast is het een gezellige plek om te wandelen en lekker te eten in de restaurants met uitzicht op zee. 

6) Cala del Portitxolet: Cala del Portitxolet ligt dicht bij de jachthaven (Club Náutico Moraira) en heeft een wat meer natuurlijke en rustige sfeer. Het is een kiezel en rotsstrand met helder water, ideaal om te snorkelen. Door de kleine omvang en ligging is het vaak minder druk dan grotere stranden zoals Playa de l' Ampolla. Voorzieningen zijn beperkter, maar dat maakt het juis aantrekkelijk voor mensen die een rustig plekje zoeken. 

7) El Portet: El Portet is een kleine, schilderachtige baai net ten noorden van Moraira. Het staat bekend om zijn heldere, rustige water en de halvemaanvormige kustlijn. Het strand bestaat uit fijn zand en is goed beschermd tegen golven, waardoor het ideaal is om te zwemmen en snorkelen. In El Portet kun je direct aan het strand eten bij diverse restaurants.

8) Cala L'Andragó: Cala L'Andragó is een populaire en sfeervolle baai aan de zuidkant van Moraira. Het is een kiezel en rotsstrand met zeer helder water, waardoor het een uitstekende plek is om te snorkelen en duiken. In tegenstelling tot sommige kleinere baaien heeft Cala L'Andragó meer voorzieningen, zoals restaurants en een strandbar, wat het een levendige maar nog steeds ontspannen plek maakt. Ook zeer de moeite waard om te bezoeken.

1) Moraira: Moraira is a charming coastal town on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante. It belongs to the municipality of Teulada and is known for its quiet, well-maintained atmosphere. Moraira is situated between larger seaside resorts such as Calpe and Jávea, but feels much smaller and more exclusive. There is no mass tourism, but rather a relaxed atmosphere. Moraira also has beautiful beaches such as Playa de l'Ampolla, as well as a charming marina and promenade. There are also good restaurants, terraces and small shops. Ideal if you want to experience the Costa Blanca without mass tourism.  

2) Castillo de Moraira: The fort was built around 1742 to protect the coast against pirate attacks, particularly from North Africa. It is situated directly by the sea in the city center, in a strategic location with a good view of the Mediterranean Sea. The architectural style is compact and robust, with thick walls and a semicircular shape to better withstand cannon fire. It was part of a network of watchtowers and forts along the Valencian coast. Today, it has been restored and is a popular tourist attraction. 

3) El Gigante de Sal: The artwork El Gigante de Sal stands at the Castillo de Moraira. The statue was placed as a reminder of the COVID-19 era and its impact on the community. The "salt giant" symbolizes the heaviness of that period, but also resilience: here, salt refers to tears, loss, and difficult times, but also to preservation and strength (just as salt used to preserve things). Next to the statue are the letters Moraira, where you can take beautiful photos.

4) Playa de l' Ampolla: Playa de l'Ampolla is the largest and best-known beach in Moraira. The beach has fine sand and shallow, calm water, making it suitable for families with children. Thanks to its central location, close to the center and Castillo de Moraira, it is easily accessible and popular with both locals and tourists. There are also amenities such as lifeguards, showers, and catering establishments. 

5) Moraira Marina: The modern marina of Moraira, Club Náutico Moraira, is a small but charming harbor. It accommodates pleasure craft and sailboats and forms the center of maritime life in Moraira. Additionally, it is a pleasant place to stroll and enjoy a meal in the restaurants with sea views. 

6) Cala del Portitxolet: Cala del Portitxolet is located close to the marina (Club Náutico Moraira) and has a somewhat more natural and peaceful atmosphere. It is a pebble and rocky beach with clear water, ideal for snorkeling. Due to its small size and location, it is often less crowded than larger beaches such as Playa de l'Ampolla. Amenities are more limited, but that is precisely what makes it attractive for people looking for a quiet spot. 

7) El Portet: El Portet is a small, picturesque bay just north of Moraira. It is known for its clear, calm waters and crescent-shaped coastline. The beach consists of fine sand and is well protected from waves, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. In El Portet, you can dine at various restaurants right on the beach. 

8) Cala L'Andragó: Cala L'Andragó is a popular and atmospheric bay on the south side of Moraira. It is a pebble and rocky beach with very clear water, making it an excellent spot for snorkeling and diving. Unlike some smaller bays, Cala L'Andragó has more amenities, such as restaurants and a beach bar, making it a lively yet still relaxed place. It is also well worth a visit.

Castillo de Moraira (hier op de foto en film) is een achttiende-eeuws kustfort in het centrum van Moraira. Het werd gebouwd om de lokale bevolking te beschermen tegen Berberse piraten en vormt tegenwoordig een symbool van het historische erfgoed van de regio Teulada-Moraira. Het fort biedt bezoekers panoramische uitzichten over de Middellandse Zee en het strand van L' Ampolla.

It was built to protect the local population from Berber pirates and today serves as a symbol of the historical heritage of the Teulada-Moraira region. De betekenis van het beeld staat voor veerkracht en herstel en is geïnspireerd door moeilijke tijdens zoals de coronapandemie. Het laat zien dat je na pijn of tegenslag weer op kunt staan.

Bij de rotonde in het centrum staat ook een ander prachtig beeld van een man, een vrouw en een kind. Het symboliseert het gezinsleven en de gemeenschap. Het is een eerbetoon aan de lokale bevolking en tradities.

At the roundabout in the center, there is also another beautiful statue of a man, a woman, and a child. It symbolizes family life and the community. It is a tribute to the local people and traditions.





Bij de rotonde en rond de haven zijn de meeste restaurants. Je vindt hier simpele tapasbars tot chique restaurants.

De prachtige wit met blauwe huizen horen echt bij de mediterrane bouwtraditie. Wit reflecteert zonlicht en houdt huizen koeler in het warme klimaat. Blauw verwijst naar de zee en de lucht en versterkt dat kustgevoel.

De haven van Moraira is een van de meest karakteristieke plekken van het dorp, klein, sfeervol en nog steeds sterk verbonden met het oude vissersleven (zie film).

De Santa Maria dels Desemparats de Moraira is een katholieke kerk en ligt centraal in het oude deel van Moraira (calle de la Iglesia 13). Ze vormt een belangrijk religieus en sociaal middelpunt van het dorp. Rond de kerk vind je meerdere terrassen en horeca.
