Bezienswaardigheden / tips 2026:

1) Bellagio: Bellagio is een vrij hooggelegen badplaats met uitzicht over het Lago di Como en dit maakt het één van de populairste plaatsen aan het Comomeer. De naam komt van het Latijnse bilacus, wat tussen twee meren betekent. Het uitzicht is ongeëvenaard, de klinkerstraatjes zijn pittoresk. De centrale ligging maakt Bellagio tot een ideale uitvalsbasis. Bellagio is erg geliefd en beroemd bij toeristen. 

2) Villa Melzi: Villa Melzi is een neoklassieke villa gelegen in Bellagio. De villa werd gebouwd in opdracht van Francesco Melzi d'Eril en in 1808 ontworpen door Giocondo Albertolli. De bouwwerkzaamheden werden voltooid in 1810. Het pand bestaat uit de villa, een kapel en uitgestrekte tuinen. De villa zelf is een privéwoning en niet toegankelijk voor publiek. De tuinen staan bekend om hun adembenemende schoonheid, met een verscheidenheid aan planten, sculpturen die wel toegankelijk zijn. Een entree ticket voor een volwassenen kost 10,00 EURO.  

3) La Punta Spartivento: Punta Spartivento, is een punt waar de drie takken van het Comomeer samenkomen. Deze schilderachtige bestemming biedt bezoekers een prachtig panoramisch uitzicht op het Como meer en de omliggende bergen. De rustige sfeer en het weelderige groen maken het een ideale plek voor ontspanning. Het gebied is gemakkelijk bereikbaar, met goed onderhouden paden die leiden naar verschillende uitkijkpunten en bankjes waar je kunt zitten en genieten van de prachtige omgeving. In de buurt zijn leuke cafés en restaurants waar je vanaf het terras de prachtige omgeving kunt bekijken.

4) Basilica di San Giacomo: De basiliek van San Giacomo werd gebouwd tussen de elfde en twaalfde eeuw door de Comacine meesters. De basiliek toont de Lombardische Romaanse bouwstijl. Binnen in de Basiliek zie je verschillende fresco's en mozaïeken uit verschillende eeuwen. Er is ook een standbeeld van de begraven Christus.  

5) Parco di Villa Serbelloni: Villa Serbelloni Gardens, niet te verwarren met het nabijgelegen Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni, is een park dat hoog boven op het voorgebergte van Bellagio ligt. In 1959 werd het pand aan de Rockefeller Foundation geschonken als conferentiecentrum. Het terrein kan alleen worden bezocht tijdens rondleidingen die een prachtig uitzicht op het meer bieden. De rondleiding duurt ongeveer 2 uur en reserveren is verplicht. 



Highlights / tips 2026:

1) Bellagio: Bellagio is a relatively elevated seaside resort overlooking Lake Como, making it one of the most popular places on Lake Como. The name comes from the Latin bilacus, meaning between two lakes. The view is unparalleled, the cobbled streets are picturesque. Its central location makes Bellagio an ideal base. Bellagio is very popular and famous among tourists. 

2) Villa Melzi: Villa Melzi is a Neoclassical villa located in Bellagio. The villa was commissioned by Francesco Melzi d'Eril and designed by Giocondo Albertolli in 1808. Construction was completed in 1810. The property consists of the villa, a chapel and extensive gardens. The villa itself is a private residence and not open to the public. The gardens are known for their breathtaking beauty, with a variety of plants and sculptures, all of which are accessible. An entrance ticket costs €10.00 per adult.  

3) La Punta Spartivento: Punta Spartivento is a point where the three branches of Lake Como meet. This picturesque destination offers visitors stunning panoramic views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. The peaceful atmosphere and lush greenery make it an ideal place to relax. The area is easily accessible, with well-maintained trails leading to various viewpoints and benches where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There are nice cafes and restaurants nearby where you can view the beautiful surroundings from the terrace. 

4) Basilica di San Giacomo: The Basilica of San Giacomo was built between the eleventh and twelfth centuries by the Comacine masters. The basilica shows the Lombard Romanesque architectural style. Inside the Basilica you can see various frescoes and mosaics from different centuries. There is also a statue of the buried Christ.

5) Parco di Villa Serbelloni: Villa Serbelloni Gardens, not to be confused with the nearby Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni, is a park situated high atop the Bellagio promontory. In 1959, the property was donated to the Rockefeller Foundation as a conference center. The grounds can only be visited on guided tours, which offer stunning views of the lake. The tour lasts approximately two hours, and reservations are required.


                                                        


Bellagio staat bekend om zijn gunstige klimaat en mooie ligging.  Door de fraaie ligging en de bewaard gebleven authentieke sfeer wordt het ook wel "de Parel aan het Comomeer" genoemd.

Bellagio is known for its favorable climate and beautiful location. Because of the beautiful location and the preserved authentic atmosphere it is also called "the Pearl of Lake Como.



   

Bellagio is een schilderachtig stadje met trapstraatjes en een mooie boulevard langs het meer, het ligt op de kaap waar de twee zuidelijke armen van het Comomeer elkaar ontmoeten.                              

Bellagio is a picturesque town with beautiful staircase streets and a promenade along the lake, it's on the cape where the two southern arms of Lake Como meet each other.

                                     Het plaatsje kent grote hoogteverschillen en bestaat grotendeels uit trappen.

                                                     The town has great elevation and consists largely of stairs.

      Bellagio telt ongeveer 3000 inwoners en in het hoogseizoen komen daar nog de nodige vakantiegangers bij. 

                      Bellagio has about 3000 inhabitants but during high season, you will find a lot of tourists.                                





De stad heeft nog steeds een middeleeuwse stratenplan, met steegjes en vele treden. In de 18de eeuw werden er in Bellagio statige villa's gebouwd en in de 19de eeuw groeide de stad uit tot een beroemd toeristenoord.

The city still has a medieval street plan, with  many steps and alleys. In the 18th century stately villas were built in Bellagio and in the 19th century the city grew into a famous tourist resort.



Vooral in en nabij de Salita Serbelloni (een overblijfsel van de middeleeuwse stadsmuren ook bekend als "il Fossato") vind je langs de trappen sfeervolle winkels, restaurants, kleine hotels en wijnproeverijen.

Especially in and near the Salita Serbelloni (a remnant of the medieval city walls, also known as "il Fossato") along the stairs, you find charming shops, restaurants, small hotels and wine tastings.





De San Giacomo kerk is een mooi voorbeeld van de Romaans-Lombardische kunst (12e eeuw), gebouwd tussen 1075 en 1123 door de Meesters van Como.

The San Giacomo church is a fine example of Romanesque-Lombard art (12th century), built between 1075 and 1123 by the Masters of Como.



 

Bellagio is zeker een aanrader, maar heeft helaas een zeer beperkte en lastig toegankelijke parkeergelegenheid. Het advies is dan ook om de boot te nemen.

Bellagio is definitely recommended, but unfortunately has a very restricted and difficult accessible parking space. The advice is to take the boat.
